Searching for a wedding photographer can be overwhelming! There are so many different styles and so many options that they can all seem to blur together. I have put together my best tips to guide you in finding YOUR photographer…
Style
First narrow down what type of style you like. This is both in aesthetic editing style and approach. Do you like the light and airy look? Dark and moody? Or maybe something in between? Do you favor a more documentary/candid approach or an editorial/traditional flair? Or a little of both? These are important questions to ask yourself in narrowing down your search.
Personality
Personality is important. This may seem like a strange thing to include as a factor. But it is so important that you “click” with your photographer(s) (no pun intended). Why is this so important? You actually spend A LOT of time with your photographer on your wedding day! They are with you from the getting ready time through every big moment of the day. A photographer is more than just their photo taking skills, you want to feel comfortable around them and know that your photographer’s personality blends with you and your guests.
Budget
Budgets are not fun to talk about but they are important. You’ll want to determine what your realistic budget is based on the photography services needed to capture your wedding day. Now this is where I may be biased, but in my opinion, the phrase “you get what you pay for” is often true. Usually photographer’s prices will not only reflect the quality of their work but the experience they provide as well. That being said, I truly believe there is a wedding photographer for every budget. Just remember, after your wedding day has past, all you are left with is your new spouse and your photos to remember the day!
This is by all means not an exhaustive guide on how to choose a wedding photographer but it is a good starting point. Have questions? I just happen to be a wedding photographer, heyyy! Let’s chat!
