The Pacific Northwest, known for beautiful mountains, lakes, forests, and RAIN. It rains so much in the Northwest that rain on your wedding day may be a real possibility, especially in the fall and winter months. If the forecast says rain on your wedding day or you’re getting married in the “rainy season”, don’t panic! There are several things you can do to ensure your wedding is amazing despite the rain!
Seek Cover
If you are getting married at an indoor venue, you have nothing to worry about! If you planned to take some of your photos outside however, talk to your planner or photographer about finding areas outside that are covered or even under the shelter of trees. Also, get clear umbrellas for everyone who is going to be in the outdoor photos. Having clear umbrellas is very important in photos as they do not cast a shadow on faces!
If your venue is indoor/outdoor and your ceremony is scheduled to occur outdoors, talk to your planner or venue coordinator about a contingency rain plan. Have a backup ceremony location inside the venue and designated persons to help move the ceremony chairs and decor inside. If the weather goes south, you will have peace of mind and a plan already in place.
Embrace it
They say rain on your wedding is good luck! If your ceremony is outdoors, consider having umbrellas as wedding favors. Also, have clear umbrellas as mentioned above for your wedding photos…rainy photos can be so romantic! You are going to want to have cover for your reception. At least having a tent or covered area will be needed for your reception dinner and events.
I know weather can be huge stress factor for those planning outdoor weddings. I myself was paranoid it was going to rain for my late February outdoor wedding. It helped me to remember that no matter what… I was marrying the love of my life, as you are too. Rain can be romantic and a good luck blessings from above!
